bDrive is a collaborative authoring platform where you can store files and collaborate with collaborators. It is an enterprise version of Google Drive, which means that it is used under an agreement approved by UC Regents. UC does not accept the vendor's requirement that we waive their liability, making bDrive more secure that your personal Google Drive.
|Box||Free to UC users||
A cloud-hosted platform that allows researchers to store and share documents, photos, research materials and other files for collaboration. Box allows users to simultaneously edit Microsoft Office documents. Berkeley Box is available to all current faculty, staff and students, and comes with free, unlimited storage.

|CalShare||Free to UC users||
CalShare is a tool for creating and managing web sites for collaboration purposes. You can easily create and share sites, documents, images, lists, discussions and surveys. CalShare is also approved by the Campus Information Security and Privacy Committee as an appropriate storage location for sensitive or restricted data (i.e., P4 data). CalShare is run as a recharge service for departments.

For some projects, a relational database is the appropriate environment for research data. IST Database Services supports a range of database services (Postgres, MySQL, SQLServer, and Oracle) as well as consulting.
The DMPTool is an online service for building data management plans with step-by-step instructions and guidance for meeting specific funding agency requirements. The tool originated out of the California Digital Library along with 7 other partner institutions that wanted to provide in depth guidance in response to federal funders requiring data management plans.

Dryad is an open-source, research data curation and publication platform. UC Berkeley is a proud partner of Dryad and offers Dryad as a free service for all UC Berkeley researchers to publish and archive their data. Datasets published in Dryad receive a citation and can be versioned at any time.

eScholarship provides a suite of open access, scholarly publishing services and research tools that enable departments, research units, publishing programs, and individual scholars associated with the University of California to have direct control over the creation and dissemination of the full range of their scholarship.

EZID is a tool that enables you to generate and manage long-term identifiers for your digital content. The tool is free for UC-Berkeley affiliates and is managed by the California Digital Library.

The IST Storage and Backup team provides highly available and highly scalable systems that are offered in two billing tiers: Performance and Utility. Managed storage for high-performance applications. Hosted in UCB data center (with UCSD backup available). No direct web access.

The IST Storage Team offers two data storage options depending on what type of access is needed: Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS). These are both highly available and highly scalable systems that are offered in two billing tiers: Performance and Utility. No direct web access. Merritt is a cost-effective repository service that lets the UC community manage, archive, and share its valuable digital content. Merritt is an excellent option for users that would like to programmatically submit their data to a trusted, UC-supported data repository.

Qualtrics is a powerful, full-featured web-based platform for creating, sharing and conducting online surveys. Berkeley provides access to all basic features of this software to all campus members.

UCBackup provides centralized backup and recovery services for servers and desktops on the UCB campus network as well as servers at the San Diego Super Computing Center (SDSC).
|XSEDE Bridges computing and storage||Free to public||
XSEDE national infrastructure facility hosted at the Pittsburgh (PA) Supercomputer Center. Campus XSEDE champion is Aaron Culich (as of 2016). XSEDE offers free computing and storage to qualified researchers through a competitive application process.
